Services for Writers and Authors

Anora is a writer and author herself and values working with the creative and enterprising people that writers are. As a writer who has had to live in the corporate world for her career, and then negotiate the shoals of being in business for herself, she especially values working with writers to take their writing into the world.

Background

Anora brings this background to her work for writers and authors:

  • The heritage from her family upbringing in a home with so many books that one friend said, "Your grandparents have as many books as a library. I never knew a family could have so many."

  • A grandfather, Arthur E. Sutherland, who wrote major text books and books of essays.

  • A father who savored the written and spoken word, and wrote essays and long letters both for work and pleasure his whole life.

  • An aunt, Camilla Trinchieri, who is a published New York author, through Harper Collins and Soho Press, and now twice published in Italy.

  • Another aunt, Prudy Sutherland, who wrote a collection of poems and essays.

  • Her own forty years of writing, starting with letters in third grade because both she and the people she met moved frequently and poetry in high school.

  • Her aspirations since she was 12 to write books as her legacy.

  • A career in corporations that started out with rigorous business analysis writing on Wall Street in New York, continued in Boston and Washington DC, and ended with a four year period of marketing and corporate communications writing with a major in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Anora honors her African American English teachers in high school in Bethesda, Maryland, Mrs. Joyner and Mrs. Snowden,  who taught with a passion, precision and force that kindled her writing.

Anora survived her college writing teachers, but only barely. Years later, it was Gloria Steinham's Revolution from Within that would help refocus the mission again.
